The reason for this trip was to look for a job, look around The Netherlands a bit and to see Sally.  The beach at Den Haag  was great and Leiden was much better and more enjoyable than many other canaled cities, meaning Amsterdam, which is a very avoidable city, unless you want to see some semi-decent Museums, dirty streets, pickpockets, druggies and a generally filthy overcrowded city.
